These milestones highlight Casey’s knack for rising to memorable moments and leaving a lasting legacy in the game.

World Series Performance That Shined Bright

Casey’s impact was not limited to regular-season games. In the 2006 World Series, he delivered an incredible performance, hitting .529 with two home runs. This remarkable run at the plate helped his team compete fiercely on baseball’s biggest stage. His ability to perform under pressure is a hallmark of his career and one reason why fans and teammates alike respected him so much.

Drawing from his experiences as a three-time MLB All-Star, Major League hitting coach, broadcaster, and student of mental performance, Sean teaches practical tools that help individuals build confidence, handle pressure, stay focused, and bounce back from setbacks. His philosophy centers on the belief that success is often determined by what happens between the ears as much as what happens on the field.

Through Breakthrough Pro, Sean and performance coach John Dennis have created a system that helps people develop resilience, gratitude, accountability, perspective, grit, and purpose. Their programs emphasize that mental skills can be trained just like physical skills, giving participants the tools to thrive in sports, business, school, and everyday life.

This passion for helping others grow reflects the same qualities that made Sean a beloved teammate throughout his baseball career: authenticity, positivity, and a genuine desire to see others succeed. Whether speaking to a packed auditorium, coaching an athlete, or mentoring a young person facing challenges, Sean's message remains consistent: when you strengthen your mindset, you unlock opportunities that once seemed out of reach.

What Makes The Mayor Special

Sean Casey’s nickname, The Mayor, reflects his role as a leader and a steady presence in the clubhouse and on the field. He was known for his professionalism, work ethic, and ability to bring teammates together. His story shows that success in baseball is not just about talent but also about character and the ability to handle pressure.

At Casey's Clubhouse, we like to break down C.A.S.E.Y. into 5 characteristics:

  • C - Character means doing the right thing, even when nobody is watching. It is about honesty, integrity, accountability, and earning the trust of teammates, friends, and family.

  • A - Attitude is choosing positivity regardless of circumstances. Sean often says that attitude is contagious. A positive outlook can lift up an entire team, while a negative one can bring everyone down. We encourage our athletes, volunteers, and families to bring their best attitude every day.

  • S - Selflessness is putting others before yourself. Whether it's helping a teammate, volunteering your time, or celebrating someone else's success, Sean believes that the strongest communities are built by people willing to serve others.

  • E - Enthusiasm means bringing energy, passion, and joy to everything you do. Sean's nickname, "The Mayor," came from his ability to make people feel welcome and excited to be part of something bigger than themselves. Enthusiasm creates connections and helps others believe in themselves.

  • Y - Yourself may be the most important characteristic of all. Sean encourages people to embrace who they are and never try to be someone else. Every individual has unique gifts, talents, and perspectives that deserve to be celebrated. Authenticity builds confidence and allows people to reach their full potential.

Leaving a legacy

While Sean Casey's accomplishments on the baseball field earned him the respect of teammates, opponents, and fans across the country, his greatest legacy may be the one he continues to build in his hometown of Pittsburgh.

In 2010, Sean had a vision to create opportunities for children and adults with disabilities who simply wanted the chance to play the game he loved. What started as the dream of building an accessible baseball field has grown into Casey's Clubhouse, a thriving community that now serves more than 1,100 participants each year through sports, camps, employment opportunities, travel experiences, and year-round programs.

Because of Sean's leadership and generosity, thousands of families have found a place where they belong. Children who once sat in the stands now take the field. Adults with disabilities have earned their first paychecks through the Next Inning Program. Athletes have traveled across the country, experienced professional stadiums, visited the Field of Dreams, played at Ripken facilities, and created memories that many never thought possible.

Sean's impact extends far beyond baseball. He has built a culture centered on Character, Attitude, Selflessness, Enthusiasm, and being Yourself. These values are woven into every program, volunteer experience, and friendship formed through Casey's Clubhouse.

Today, Casey's Clubhouse serves families from more than 70 communities across the region, proving that one person's vision can create opportunities for generations to come. While baseball fans will always remember Sean Casey for his All-Star career and his nickname, "The Mayor," countless families throughout Western Pennsylvania know him for something even more important: a leader who used his platform to make life better for others.

That is the legacy of Sean Casey. Not just the hits, the home runs, or the games played, but the lives changed, the friendships created, and the community that continues to grow because he believed everyone deserves a chance to belong.
